Penalty tries give Leicester win

Two penalty tries ensured that Leicester Tigers secured a 20-11 win over London Irish in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon.

The Exiles could not organise their scrum early on, resulting in the referee awarding the home side the try after nine minutes.

James O'Connor kicked a couple of penalties to keep the visitors in touch, reducing Tigers' lead to four points by half time.

Irish continued to struggle with their scrum in the second half, conceding numerous penalties before the referee handed Leicester another try after the London club wheeled the scrum around under the posts.

Fergus Mulchrone added a late try for the visitors, but it was not enough for them to avoid defeat, which leaves them 11th in the table.
