Leicester Tigers ease past Sale Sharks thanks to a Laurence Pearce try

Pearce try helps Tigers ease past Sharks

Leicester Tiger have shrugged off their recent poor form to score two tries past Sale Sharks and pick up a much-needed victory.

Freddie Burns and Nick Macleod traded penalties early on, before young flanker Laurence Pearce broke through a couple of tackles to cross for the Tigers for the first try of the game. Burns added the conversion before kicking another penalty swiftly after.

Sale forward Magnus Lund then received a yellow card for persistent infringement, and from the resulting scrum, the referee awarded a penalty try after Sharks infringed once again, from which Burns converted.

Leicester controlled the game for the most part but it was Sale that got the first try in the second half, Luke Arscott shrugging off the challenge of Mathew Tait to score in the corner. Joe Ford was unable to convert, however.

Burns added another penalty as Sale found themselves under pressure, constantly giving away penalties meaning that they had no way back into the game.

The 23-8 win gives Tigers essential momentum ahead of their LV= Cup semi-final home match against Exeter Chiefs next week.
