Martin Castrogiovanni has escaped a suspension for his foul-mouthed outburst at Leicester Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill.

Discussing the tight-head prop's switch from the Tigers to Toulon last year, Cockerill suggested that the 33-year-old had been motivated by financial gain.

In response to that and following the Champions Cup clash between the two sides earlier this month, Castrogiovanni hit back when he told the press: "I thought fucking Leicester were fucking amateur. I never want to speak with Cockers anymore."

His words resulted in an independent disciplinary committee hearing taking place today, which cleared the Argentine of bringing the game into disrepute.

However, he was ordered to pay a fine of £7,900 to a Leicester-based charity and handed a suspended four-game ban.

The ban will be activated in the event of any off-field misconduct complaint being successfully brought against Castrogiovanni before April 2016.
