Nick Evans signs new Harlequins contract

Former New Zealand fly-half Nick Evans signs a contract extension with Harlequins.

Former New Zealand international Nick Evans has put pen to paper on a contract extension with Harlequins.

The 35-year-old arrived at Quins in 2008 and has since become the club's record points scorer with 2,024 from his 181 appearances.

The fly-half is also the leading points scorer in the Aviva Premiership this season, helping his side into fourth place with four victories from their opening six games.

"Harlequins have been the biggest part of my professional career and I'm so proud to have been given the opportunity to continue at this great club," Evans told the club's official website.

"The potential that this group of players has is incredibly exciting and I'm looking forward to being able to help us reach our domestic and European goals once again."

Quins director of rugby Conor O'Shea added: "Nick is the consummate professional and his competitiveness still burns more than ever. He's a massive influence on the group, a great role model for players both young and old and I have no doubt he will deliver for this club when it counts for a few more years yet.

"He has become a true legend in the history of Harlequins and I am sure everyone involved in the club will be delighted by the news."

Quins take on Gloucester in their next match on Sunday.
