Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea slams the performance of his players following Sunday's 27-12 defeat at Saracens in the Aviva Premiership.

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea has criticised the performance of his players following Sunday's defeat at Saracens in the Aviva Premiership.

The defending champions went down 27-12 at the Allianz Park as Sarries extended their lead at the top of the table.

"Physically we were beaten, which is irritating beyond belief," O'Shea told Sky Sports News. "We always pride ourselves on saying results don't matter but performances do - and we didn't perform today.

"We'll learn our lesson but the championship isn't decided today. They were worthy winners but we didn't perform anywhere close to what we know we are capable of."

Third-placed Harlequins continue their league campaign on Friday when they travel to Gloucester Rugby.
