James Rodwell "frustrated" with yellow card

England forward James Rodwell hints that he disagrees with the referee's decision to sin bin him during the quarter-finals of the rugby sevens at the Commonwealth Games.

England forward James Rodwell has admitted that he was "frustrated" with the referee's decision to send him to the sin bin during the Commonwealth Games quarter-final against Samoa.

Rodwell was ordered to spend two minutes off the field in the dying stages of the first half, and his absence proved costly as Samoa scored two tries with an extra man on the field.

England ended up losing by a solitary point to miss out on a place in the last four, and Rodwell hinted that he disagreed with the referee's decision.

"It's just the ref's interpretation. [The player has] taken time to put the ball down, I made a challenge on him and [the ref] said I took him after the whistle had gone," he told reporters.

"That's just how it goes sometimes. I'm pretty frustrated with the whole thing to be honest."

The defeat means that England will now enter the plate competition, where they will face hosts Scotland in the semi-finals.
