Richie McIver joins Edinburgh

Dundee High back-row Richie McIver has joined Edinburgh for the remainder of their RaboDirect PRO12 season.

The 25-year-old, who was the RBS Premiership player of the season in the previous campaign, will gain a long-term deal if he impresses during his stay, according to reports.

"We keep tabs on a lot of Scottish Premiership players and, after winning the player of the season award last year, have been well aware of Richie's potential," Edinburgh boss Stevie Scott told the club's official website.

"He's backed that up with consistently good performances for Dundee this season and so has merited the opportunity to train at Murrayfield and allow us to have a closer look at him for the rest of the season."

Ewan McQuillin has also joined the club on trial.
