Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe hails "fantastic" World Cup for Argentina

Argentina's Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe tells Sports Mole that his side have enjoyed a "fantastic" World Cup campaign following their fourth-place finish.

Argentina back-row Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe has described his side's performance at the 2015 Rugby World Cup as "fantastic".

The Pumas were condemned to a fourth-place finish courtesy of a 24-13 defeat to South Africa in the bronze-medal match on Friday evening, but they won many admirers along the way.

Daniel Hourcade's side have undergone a change of style in recent years, as demonstrated by their position as the second-highest scorers of both points and tries at the tournament, behind only New Zealand in each category.

Lobbe acknowledged that his side had fallen short of the ultimate dream of a place in Saturday's final, but believes that his side can be proud of their achievements in England.

"It's tough to analyse it at this moment. I think overall it's been a fantastic World Cup for us," he told Sports Mole.

"We wanted to play [in the final], our dream got shortened by the great Australian team, but I think we brought some enjoyment to the people and we gave everything we had for the jersey. There are no regrets and that's a good feeling to have."

Lobbe's appearance against the Springboks was his 71st and final international Test match.
