Team GB miss out on quadruple sculls medal

Team GB miss out on a medal in the men's quadruple sculls final.

Team GB's men's quadruple sculls have missed out on a medal in today's final, finishing fifth.

Germany took a comfortable gold with a time of 5:42.48, with Croatia second and Australia third with 5:44.78 and 5:45.22 respectively.

Great Britain got off to a slow start, with Germany going into an early lead in the first 500m, with GB well-poised in third.

The British four started to cut into Germany's lead through the second 500m, but were still third by the time the halfway time was recorded.

Croatia were the ones to push through the third 500m, with Australia overtaking the British team into third, and there was work to do for the Brits.

Germany had a huge lead with a quarter of the race to go and the result was never really in doubt.

The battle was for silver, as Australia just failed to edge out Croatia and had to settle for bronze.
