Tote are offering new customers £20 in free bets this weekend, and unlike most bookmakers, they bring something genuinely different to the table. As the home of pool betting since 1928, every penny you put into the pools goes back into the prize fund. No fixed-odds margins, no bookmaker edge baked into the price. If you fancy a different way into the Grand National, Tote is worth having on your radar.

Tote Grand National sign up offer: Bet £5 get £20 in free bets
To get the Tote sign up offer, place a £5 qualifying bet and Tote credit your account with £20 split across two types: £10 in Tote Credit, redeemable on any UK or Irish racing pool bet, and £10 as a Free Sports Bet. Both land within 48 hours of your qualifying bet settling.
To claim:
- Register at Tote.co.uk between 9 and 12 April 2026 using the “Claim offer” button at the top of the page.
- Deposit and place your first racing pool or sports bet of £5 or more at odds of 1/1 (2.0) or greater.
- Once your qualifying bet settles, £10 Tote Credit and £10 Free Sports Bet are credited within 48 hours.
A few things worth noting from the T&Cs: the qualifying bet is the first bet added to your betslip. Win and place are counted as two separate bets, so a £5 win-only bet qualifies more cleanly than a £5 each-way. Voided and non-runner bets don’t qualify; the subsequent bet will count instead. The free bets expire after 7 days.
Qualifying bet types include Toteplacepot, Totewin, Toteplace, Exacta, Trifecta, Swinger, Jackpot, Quadpot, Scoop6 and sportsbook bets at odds of 1/1 or greater. Virtual or games bets don’t count.

Tote Grand National betting: pools, picks and today’s card
Tote’s core product is pool betting. You’re not betting against a fixed-odds bookmaker, you’re betting into a shared pool with other punters, and the returns depend on how much is in the pot and how many winners there are. That means occasional big dividends, especially in competitive handicaps where the favourite doesn’t oblige.
For the Grand National itself on Saturday, the Placepot pool is expected to be one of the biggest of the year. Today’s Friday Placepot at Aintree already has a pool of £400,000, with £94k in punter units with Tote topping up the remainder to guarantee the figure.
Saturday’s pool is estimated at £500,000. The Placepot requires you to pick a placed horse in each of the first six races on the card. Get all six right, and you share the pool. From as little as 10p per line, you can cover multiple combinations without a large outlay.
Today’s Placepot runs across six legs:
- 14:45
- 15:20
- 15:55
- 16:30
- 17:05
- 17:40
The 14:45 opens with Indeevar Bleu at 4/1 (4.75) as the Exotic Pool Pick for first, with Joyeuse at 13/2 (7.70) and Wellington Arch at 8.00 behind in the market.
Indeevar Bleu underwent wind surgery in the interim since his December win and remains progressive, particularly unexposed at the trip, a horse rated as an ideal type for the assignment. Tote’s Quadpot (covering legs 3–6) has a £4k pool today, and the Jackpot, picking all six winners is £20k.
Beyond pool bets, Tote offers win/place fixed-odds on all races, exacta, trifecta, and swinger markets, giving you flexibility to use your free bets in the format that suits your approach to the card.
Tote Grand National offers for existing customers
Aintree Money Back – 2nd & 3rd is running on two feature races every day of the festival through to Saturday. Applies to the first cash win or win part of each-way bet per race. Minimum 5 runners must start.
Today’s Money Back races are the 14:45 and 15:20 at Aintree, flagged on the site with the orange Money Back badge. Opt in before placing your bet.

Placepot pools are the main event for existing customers across the weekend. Friday’s pool is estimated at £500k and Saturday’s Grand National day pool matches it.
Even a small stake across multiple Placepot lines gives you exposure to a very large prize fund. With a competitive card and genuine uncertainty over the National result, Saturday’s Placepot is one of the most interesting bets of the year, regardless of what else you’re doing.
