Ladbrokes Grand National odds and analysis (Saturday, 4 pm)
The field took a significant turn yesterday morning when Nick Rockett, the reigning champion, was withdrawn. That removes a major rival from the top of the market and strengthens the case for I Am Maximus, who goes to post at 7/1 as the clear favourite. The 2024 winner carried top weight into second place last year and has Paul Townend in the saddle. Mullins’ retained jockey doesn’t take many wrong turnings at this time of year.

Panic Attack is up to 8/1 following Rockett’s absence and is worth serious consideration. Dan Skelton’s mare has been exceptional all season and the yard’s record in big-field festival handicaps speaks for itself.
Ladbrokes’ own traders have tipped Oscars Brother as their win selection, an 8-year-old who has had a terrific season for Connor King, winning two Grade 2s before a fine fourth in the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham. They argue he’s still improving and that JP McManus may have had this race in mind all along.
For each-way value, they point to Perceval Legallois, who was sent off 10/1 for last year’s National before falling at the ninth. An uninspiring season hasn’t deterred them. Gavin Cromwell has a habit of getting horses to peak for the spring festivals.
Ladbrokes has a strong betting markets offering for the race. Beyond the standard win and each-way, you can access forecast and tricast markets, winning distance, betting without the favourite, and a Race Bet Builder that lets you combine multiple selections within the same race.
The 12:45 Maghull Novices’ Chase today is a good warm-up. Salvator Mundi is 11/10 favourite with the Racing Post giving him a 5-star rating ahead of Mighty Bandit (9/2) and Kala Conti. The 17:00 bumper has Bass Hunter and Look Me as the leading fancies going into the weekend.
Ladbrokes Grand National offers for existing customers
- 5 places instead of 4 is Ladbrokes’ headline offer for the National itself, paying at 1/5 the odds. This applies where there are 16 or more runners, with 34 confirmed. If the field drops to 11–15, the terms revert to 1/4 odds on 4 places; below 11 runners, standard place terms apply. Rule 4 deductions may apply. The extra place is real value at a double-figure price, a horse at 20/1 finishing fifth still returns a profit on your place stake under these terms.
- Best Odds Guaranteed covers all races across the Aintree meeting. Take a price early on any runner and if the starting price is bigger when the race goes off, Ladbrokes automatically pay the higher odds. Particularly useful for the National given how much the market can move in the final 48 hours.
- £100k guaranteed Placepot is Ladbrokes’ standout pool bet offer for Saturday. The Placepot requires you to pick a placed horse in each of the first six races on the card. With a £100,000 guaranteed pool, it’s one of the most valuable Placepots of the year. Ladbrokes’ Placepot is available to join from 10p per line.
- Bet Builder is available on UK and Irish races with a maximum potential payout of £100k per customer per day. Combine selections within the same horse race, win, top finish, and winning distance to create your own price. Best Odds Guaranteed does not apply to Bet Builder bets.
