BetMGM Grand National odds, specials and analysis (Saturday, 4 pm)
BetMGM’s Grand National markets go beyond the standard win and each-way. Their specials for Saturday include some nice angles for punters who want to bet around the race rather than just on the winner.
- First four trained in Ireland: 7/2. Given Willie Mullins has four of the first five in the market and Irish trainers dominate the top of the weights, this is a notable price. Mullins sent out the first three last year and five of the first seven home. An Irish-trained winner is 8/13.
- Winner trained in the UK: 6/5. That implies a roughly 45% chance of a British winner, generous given the current market distribution. With Panic Attack (Dan Skelton) as the joint favourite at 7/1 alongside I Am Maximus, there’s a case for the UK price.
- Winner owned by JP McManus: 2/1. McManus has Johnnywho, Iroko, Oscars Brother and others in the field. With multiple runners and significant market support across the group, this is worth considering as a standalone bet.
- Winning distance markets give an alternative read on the race. Between 2.5 and 6 lengths is 13/8, under 2.5 lengths is 13/8, and over 6 lengths is 7/4. Recent Nationals have tended to feature competitive finishes, which tilts the argument toward the shorter-margin options.
BetMGM ambassador Megan Nicholls has published her Day 3 tips for the meeting. For the Grand National, she’s on I Am Maximus at 7/1 joint favourite. She points to Paul Townend choosing him over all other Mullins horses as significant in itself, and notes his Christmas run was a prep for this. Grangeclare West (17/2) is her each-way selection, arguing his Bobbyjo Chase win last time is directly relevant given the last two National winners both won that race beforehand.
For the supporting card, Megan tips Brave Fortune each-way at 13/2 in the 14:30 Handicap Chase. Only a couple of starts for Joseph O’Brien but coming to the boil at the right time and well-handicapped, and Impose Toi win in the 15:05 Liverpool Hurdle at 13/2.
Her read on Impose Toi is that his Stayers’ Hurdle run at Cheltenham wasn’t his true form, he loves Aintree, and the race is wide open enough for him to land it if he shows up in the same form as earlier in the season. Scorpio Rising is her win selection in an earlier race on the card.
BetMGM Grand National offers for existing customers
There aren’t too many offers for existing customers, except for Golden Silks, a daily 10% Profit Boost on Horse Racing. Opt in and get up to 7 profit boosts at 10% on any horse racing bet, running every day. Maximum stake £20 per boost, maximum £1k win per boost.
With a full Saturday card at Aintree including the National, this is worth activating before you place your bets tomorrow morning. The boost applies on top of your returns, so a £20 each-way bet at 14/1 with a 10% profit boost gives you a meaningfully bigger return if your selection places.
Given BetMGM also offer Forecast, Reverse Forecast, Tricast and Superfecta markets on the National, the profit boost works across more bet types than just a standard win single. A Reverse Forecast on the top two in the market, I Am Maximus and Panic Attack in either order, at 10% boosted returns is a practical use of the offer for Saturday.
