Guillem Balague: 'FA assessing potential Wolverhampton Wanderers takeover'

Spanish journalist Guillem Balague says that the Football Association is assessing documentation ahead of a potential takeover of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has said that the potential takeover of Wolverhampton Wanderers is currently being assessed by the Football Association.

Reports have suggested that Chinese billionaire Robin Li wants to buy the Championship outfit from current owner Steve Morgan, as well as installing former Porto chief Julen Lopetegui as the club's new manager.

It had earlier been suggested that the change in ownership could be completed by the end of the week but Balague has indicated that the FA must evaluate the necessary documentation involved in any takeover before a deal can progress any further.

Li is also said to be involved in negotiations to purchase a significant stake in Italian giants AC Milan.

Current boss Kenny Jackett has hinted that the ongoing negotiations are scuppering attempts to sign new players, with goalkeeper Andy Lonergan the only new face at Molineux ahead of the club's first pre-season friendly this weekend.
