New York teacher arrested for crashing drone into seats at US Open

Teacher arrested for drone incident

Police have confirmed that a teacher in New York has been arrested after flying and crashing a drone into seats during a US Open match at Flushing Meadows.

The incident occurred during Flavia Pennetta's 6-1 6-4 win over Monica Niculescu in the Louis Armstrong Stadium on Thursday.

No-one was injured when the drone smashed into pieces, interrupting the match and causing police and emergency officials to investigate the incident.

Now a 26-year-old teacher named Daniel Verley has been arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and operating a drone in a public park outside of a prescribed area, according to BBC News.

Last year, a local man was arrested for flying a drone outside the courts at Flushing Meadows.
