King to attend closing ceremony of Games

Billie Jean King has announced that she will attend the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

King couldn't attend the opening ceremony of the Games because of her mother's death.

The 70-year-old will join American speed skaters Bonnie Blair and Eric Heiden as part of President Barack Obama's official US delegation.

King told The AP: "I will use this trip to honour the memory of my mother and to further my mission of equality.

"I am thankful to President Obama for including me and I look forward to supporting the men and women of Team USA in Sochi."

There has been widespread criticism of Russia after it passed a law that banned 'gay propaganda' to minors.
