Lamin Deen: 'Military saved me from wrong road'

Great Britain bobsleigh pilot Lamin Deen has said that going into the military saved him from going down the "wrong road".

Deen got his campaign underway at the Winter Olympics on Sunday as he and his teammate John Baines finished 23rd after their first two runs in the two-man bobsleigh event.

The 32-year-old told BBC Sport: "There was a lot of gang culture and I got into a bit of bother, but unlike some of my friends who didn't choose the right route I got out at a crucial time.

"There were hard times and I could have gone down the wrong road. Fortunately I joined the military and they moulded me and turned me into the person I am today."

Deen and Baines need to finish in the top 20 after their third run later today to keep their hopes alive.
