Stoke City fan given two-year ban for abusing Manchester United supporters

A Stoke City fan is given a two-year football banning order for hurling abuse at Manchester United supporters during their Capital One Cup defeat in December.

A Stoke City supporter has been handed a two-year football banning order for hurling abuse at Manchester United fans.

Laurence Bailey was hit with the punishment at North Staffordshire Justice Centre this week following his arrest after the Potters lost 2-0 to United in the Capital One Cup on December 18.

According to the Stoke Sentinel, the court heard that the 23-year-old shouted "come on then" to United fans and began throwing punches.

Bailey has also been fined £265 by magistrates after admitting that he used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent towards the Red Devils fans at the match.

It has been reported that Bailey said in a police statement that United fans had started causing trouble first.
