Lloris apologises after drink-driving arrest

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has issued an apology after being arrested for drink-driving.

Lloris was arrested during the early hours of Friday morning, and it resulted in the France captain missing training ahead of the club's Premier League fixture at Manchester United.

Spurs are yet to reveal whether Lloris remains in contention for Monday's game at Old Trafford, but Lloris has moved to "take full responsibility".

The 31-year-old is quoted by the London Evening Standard as saying: "I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my teammates, the manager and all of the supporters.

"Drink driving is completely unacceptable, I take full responsibility for my actions and it is not the example I wish to set."

Lloris has been bailed until September 11, when he is due to return to Westminster Magistrates' Court.
