Irina Shayk defends ex-partner Cristiano Ronaldo

Irina Shayk defends her former boyfriend Cristiano Ronaldo, who has faced criticism for hosting a birthday party following Real Madrid's 4-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid.

Russian model Irina Shayk has branded recent criticism of her former boyfriend, Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, "unfair".

Ronaldo has faced criticism in recent days for holding a birthday party just hours after Real Madrid were thumped 4-0 by rivals Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon in La Liga.

However, when questioned on the topic at a recent Sports Illustrated event, Shayk is believed to have called the criticism "unfair", Marca reports.

A host of Real Madrid's first-team stars were pictured at Ronaldo's gathering for his 30th birthday, but Gareth Bale chose not to attend.

Shayk and Ronaldo were together for five years before mutually ending their relationship last month.
