Javier Tebas: 'I support Real Madrid'

La Liga president Javier Tebas says that 'he would be a liar' if he did not admit that he is a supporter of Real Madrid.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has revealed that he is a Real Madrid supporter and has followed the club 'since he was a boy'.

The 53-year-old, who was born in Costa Rica, has been in charge of the LFP since April 2013 and has previously come under fire due to the late kickoff times in Spain's top flight.

Tebas has now risked more criticism in the build-up to the first Clasico of the season after admitting that he is a supporter of Real Madrid.

"If I say I don't support [Madrid], then that would be hypocritical and I would be painted as a liar," Tebas told AS.

"And I certainly don't like to be called a liar. Imagine if I said that I loved all teams, and then it came out that I supported Madrid since I was a boy, went to 27 Clasicos in the past, that I celebrated Madrid wins with friends in a bar. I prefer to call it as it is."

Tebas revealed earlier this year that he has the final say on kickoff times in La Liga, which has been a long-running issue in Spanish football.
