Metropolitan Police confirm that Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy has been arrested on suspicion of rape, Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

The Frenchman was detained by officers this morning and will face questioning over an allegation of rape by a 34-year-old woman.

The 26-year-old former Marseille forward has been accused of being involved in the act, along with his cousin and a friend.

A statement from Scotland Yard said: "Officers from Sapphire are investigating an allegation of rape which happened on May 6 in the West London area."

Remy has been tipped to leave QPR this summer following their relegation into the Championship, with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal being linked with the striker.
