Former Queens Park Rangers defender Ron Hunt passes away, aged 72

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that the club's former defender Ron Hunt has passed away aged 72.

Hunt spent his entire professional career with the R's - making 255 appearances for the club in all competitions, and was part of the team that won the League Cup in 1967.

"QPR are saddened to announce the passing of former R's defender Ron Hunt," read a statement on QPR's official Twitter account. "Our thoughts are with Ron's family and friends at this time."

Hunt made 219 league appearances for Rangers before injury forced him to retire in 1973.

The former defender, who was born in Paddington, later became a squash coach before working for a petrochemical company.
