Referee Mark Clattenburg suspended for attending Ed Sheeran gig?

Referee Mark Clattenburg is handed a suspension after travelling alone to officiate West Bromwich Albion's draw against Crystal Palace last weekend, a report claims.

Mark Clattenburg has reportedly been suspended from refereeing this weekend having travelled alone to West Bromwich Albion's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last Saturday.

The Guardian claims that the 39-year-old made his own way to The Hawthorns in order to head back to Newcastle quickly following the Premier League match where he was to attend an Ed Sheeran concert later that evening.

It is stated by the Football Association that referees must travel with their assistants to and from games for security and integrity purposes, although Clattenburg is said to have broken this protocol.

The report also suggests that the official spoke to Palace manager Neil Warnock after the game, which is another breach of rules put in place.
