Muhammad Ali 'put on life support machine'

Former world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali is reportedly put on a life support machine having been taken to hospital due to respiratory problems.

Former world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali has been put on a life support machine, according to reports.

The 74-year-old was taken to hospital yesterday due to respiratory problems, although he was said to be in a "fair condition".

A spokesperson for the boxing legend announced that only a "brief" stay was expected in hospital, but numerous reports have now claimed that Ali has been put on life support.

Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1984 and last January was hospitalised with a urinary tract infection.

The self-proclaimed 'greatest' is widely regarded as one of the best boxers and most influential sportsmen of all time.
