McIlroy takes agent to court

Two-time Major winner Rory McIlroy has taken his former agent Horizon Sports Management to court in the Republic of Ireland.

The details of the case were not disclosed at Dublin High Court on Monday but it is believed that the dispute is over excessive fees, with McIlroy said to be looking to reclaim €7m (£5.9m).

According to BBC News, Horizon is ready to defend itself and believes that it has achieved exceptional results for McIlroy, who was not in court.

The case was today fast-tracked to Dublin's Commercial Court, where a provisional trial date has been set for October 2014.

McIlroy is also reported to have split from long-term girlfriend and Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
