Darts master of ceremonies Martin Fitzmaurice quits over racist jokes

Darts master of ceremonies Martin Fitzmaurice has been forced to resign after he was caught telling racist jokes.

The 72-year-old was spotted on camera with no knowledge of filming during a break between Scotland and England on Sunday, making remarks about black and Asian people.

"I have offered my resignation and they have accepted it," the Daily Mail quotes Fitzmaurice as saying. "I made a mistake. I was having a bit of banter with the crowd. What happened took place because I was unaware the camera was on. If I have upset anyone I apologise."

Fitzmaurice is famously knows for his catchphrase, "Let's play darts!".
