Higdon arrested for 'assault'

Motherwell striker Michael Higdon has been arrested on suspicion of assault following a disturbance in Glasgow.

The incident occurred just hours after the 29-year-old was named Scotland's Player of the Year at a ceremony on Sunday night.

"A 29-year-old man is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with an alleged assault at a nightclub in Ingram Street in Glasgow at 1.25am today," BBC News quotes a Police Scotland spokeswoman as saying.

Higdon was due to speak at a media conference today but following the altercation, the event was cancelled.
