Niang given suspended 18-month jail term

Montpellier HSC on-loan striker M'Baye Niang has reportedly been sentenced to a suspended 18-month jail term following multiple charges in relation to a car accident.

The 19-year-old, who was charged with endangering people's lives, unintentional injuries, driving without a licence and a hit-and-run, admitted to colliding with several cars before smashing into a tree.

According to the Daily Mail, the prosecutor requested 170 hours of community service, but the judge ruled instead for a suspended jail sentence.

Reports have claimed that 11 people filed a civil complaint following the incident.

Niang is currently on loan at Montpellier from AC Milan.
