Niang charged over car crash

On-loan Montpellier HSC striker Mbaye Niang has been charged with driving without a license following a recent car crash involving his red Ferrari.

The AC Milan-owned forward was questioned by police last week after his vehicle struck a tree near the Ligue 1 club's training ground.

"He has been charged with accidental injuries, failure to control his vehicle, driving without a licence and hit-and-run," Reuters quotes a police source as saying.

Niang, who will appear before a judge on February 24, faces up to five years in jail and a €75,000 (£62,000) fine if found guilty.
