Steven Gerrard has been named the Liverpool Echo's Sports Personality of the Year.
The Liverpool skipper scooped the award at a city centre ceremony on Monday evening, and the accolade was accepted on his behalf by Reds managing director Ian Ayre.
Ayre said: "Steven is a legend of Liverpool Football Club, and epitomises everything that is great about this football club.
"For one player to spend an entire career at the same club these days and to be from Liverpool, a local lad [who is] the captain of his country, it's a very rich and deserved award.
"Winning the league is of course the focus of everyone at the football, it's on Steven's mind, and we've got two weeks to focus and keep our eyes on the prize, and what will be, will be."
Gerrard has scored 13 goals for the Reds this term.
