Antonio Conte to stand trial

Italy manager Antonio Conte has been requested to stand trial after being accused of sporting fraud in relation to a match-fixing investigation.

The 45-year-old was one of 104 people requested to be brought to trial by Cremona prosecutor Roberto Di Martino, in a case that has stretched back nearly five years.

If Conte is indicted, he is expected to request a fast-track trial to clear himself before Italy take part in the European Championships next summer.

He previously served a four-month ban for allegedly failing to report attempts to fix two matches when he was in charge of Siena.

Trial requests have also been made for Lazio captain Stefano Mauri and former Italy international Cristiano Doni.
