France rugby team bus hit with parking fine in Croydon

France team bus hit with parking fine

The team bus belonging to the France rugby squad was hit with a fine while parked outside of a restaurant in Croydon this week.

The squad are based in the South London town for the duration of the World Cup, which gets underway on Friday.

This week, during a team dinner, a traffic warden spotted the parked bus on the street and opted to give it a ticket.

The news comes after reports that the French team complained about the rowdy atmosphere at their hotel venue in the town.

According to The Mirror, a Croydon Council spokesman said: "Despite appearances, this is not Croydon's revenge for disparaging remarks allegedly made about the town by a French rugby journalist earlier this week. The fact of the matter is that the coach was parked illegally in a bus stop on a busy main road."

France will begin their World Cup campaign with a clash against Italy at Twickenham on Saturday.
