Valencia 'fakes injury to flee police'

Everton striker Enner Valencia appeared to fake an injury in order to avoid being arrested over alleged unpaid child maintenance.

The 26-year-old, who is on loan at Goodison Park from West Ham United, was approached by police and lawyers while training with his Ecuador teammates at the Atahualpa Stadium in Quito on Wednesday.

According to The Mirror, after the training session Valencia was presented with a court order over an alleged unpaid maintenance sum of £13,350 for his five-year-old daughter, but the footballer was not detained.

During Ecuador's 3-0 win over Chile, police and lawyers representing the mother of his child were pitch-side, but Valencia pulled up seemingly injured before being stretchered off and driven away from the pitch on a golf cart.

Video footage from the crowd appeared to show the authorities chasing down the cart as Valencia was transported to an ambulance.

The report adds that the forward's lawyer Juan Carlos Carmigniani has since agreed a deal to avoid the judicial order.
