Charlton announce death of academy coach

Charlton Athletic have said that they are "extremely saddened" after the death of academy coach Steve Adams.

The Championship side announced on their website this afternoon that the 34-year-old had died following an "accident" on Sunday.

Academy manager Steve Avory told the club website: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of a much-valued member of our coaching team. "He joined us in the 2012-13 season as part of the FA's Black and Asian Coaches bursary programme and in that time he became a very popular member of staff. "He will be greatly missed."

Charlton's first-team players will wear black armbands during this evening's match against Bolton Wanderers, while there will be a minute's silence before the club's academy fixtures this weekend.
