Report: Former Brazil striker Warley in hospital after being stabbed in robbery

Former Brazil international Warley has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed during a robbery, according to a report.

Brazilian outlet O Globo claims that the 39-year-old was attacked at around 4am near his home in the northeastern Brazilian city of Joao Pessoa.

The report goes on to claim that the former player was stabbed twice in the back when the carjacking was unsuccessful.

Warley's friend, Claudio Santos, told the publication that the four-times capped striker had undergone surgery but did not provide details of his condition.

As well as the Selecao, Warley played for Sao Paulo, Udinese and Palmeiras during a career that spanned from 1997 to 2016.
