Controversial striker Luis Suarez inspires vampire character in children's book

Barcelona star Luis Suarez inspires a children's author to create a vampire character following his biting controversies.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has inspired an author to create a vampire character in his children's book following the footballer's numerous biting incidents.

The former Liverpool forward has been punished three times in his career for biting opponents.

The first occurred when he was playing for Ajax in 2010 and three years later he made headlines for sinking his teeth into the arm of Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic at Anfield.

In the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Suarez was issued with a four-month football ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini while playing for Uruguay.

Author Peter Barron was inspired by the 28-year-old's exploits on the pitch and decided to create a football-playing vampire called Luis in the latest of his Monstrous Morals series called Daydreaming Daisy McCloud.

"When I was writing the book, Luis Suarez had been in trouble again for biting another opponent," The Mirror quotes Barron as saying.

"So when I needed a striker to complete my monstrous line-up he seemed to fit the bill. I just hope he sees the funny side of it and the idea doesn't come back to bite me."

Suarez helped Barca win the La Liga title, Copa del Rey and Champions League last season.
