Fifth athlete fails doping test

Skier Johannes Duerr has become the fifth athlete to test positive for a prohibited substance, the Austrian Olympic Committee have confirmed.

The 26-year-old cross-country competitor, who finished eighth in the men's skiathlon event, has been withdrawn from today's 50km mass start and suspended from the 2014 Winter Olympics.

"The IOC disciplinary commission decided on February 22, 2014 that Johannes Duerr is suspended from competing in the men's 50km mass start free," a statement from the International Ski Federation read.

Duerr tested positive for EPO, which came from a pre-competition doping control.
