NBA player slams Rio accommodation

Australian basketball player Andrew Bogut has hit out at the standard of his accommodation in the Athletes' Village at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The 31-year-old 6ft10 center, who recently left the Golden State Warriors to join Dallas Mavericks, took to Twitter to criticise the beds and shower facilities by using the sarcastic hashtag #IOCLuxuryLodging.

He wrote: "At #IOCLuxuryLodging we believe a bed is not vital for sleep. Fine tuned athletes can sleep standing up.

"#IOCLuxuryLodging will not comment on our delegates penthouse villas in downtown Rio."

The Australian team have already had problems in Brazil as they refused to move into the Village on the scheduled date of July 21, citing concerns over "blocked toilets, leaking pipes and exposed wiring".

Once the issues were dealt with, the team set up base.
