Cameron forgets who he supports

David Cameron has suffered an embarrassing mix-up during an election speech, as the prime minister forgot which Premier League team he supported.

The Conservative party leader and Aston Villa supporter is currently campaigning to seal another term as the head of British politics but slipped up during his speech, claiming that he would "rather you supported West Ham" when arguing that people from England can support a host of teams or countries.

Cameron tried to cover his tracks after his gaff but admitted that he suffered a "brain fade" during the speech.

"I had what [Greens leader] Natalie Bennett described as a brain fade," Cameron said, after he was question by a BBC journalist.

"I'm a Villa fan ... I must have been overcome by something ... this morning.

"But there we are, these things sometimes happen when you are on the stump."
