Fans injured after barrier collapses at Ligue 1 match

Saturday night's Ligue 1 match between Amiens and Lille had to be abandoned after a barrier collapsed in the 15th minute of the fixture at the Stade de la Licorne.

According to various reports, at least 20 people were injured in the incident, which occurred in front of the away section after supporters celebrated Fode Ballo-Toure's goal.

Television pictures showed dozens of fans falling onto the pitch, and the match was suspended following a security meeting.

Three people are believed to have been seriously injured, with ESPN claiming that some Lille supporters fell five feet after the barrier in the stand collapsed.

Amiens were promoted to Ligue 1 for the 2017-18 campaign after finishing second in Ligue 2 last term, while Lille are three-time champions of France's top flight - last winning the trophy during the 2010-11 season.
