Australia beat New Zealand 58-40 to win netball gold at the Commonwealth Games, avenging their defeats to their rivals in the last two finals.

New Zealand came into the match at the SSE Hydro looking to retain their title, but Australia produced a dominant display in the final two quarters to edge out their opponents.

The first quarter was a tight affair with nothing between the sides at 14-14, but Australia prevailed 14-10 in the second to open up a lead.

These two sides have contested all five netball finals since its Games inception in 1998, although, unlike in the previous two tournaments, Australia came out on top by winning the final two quarters 15-8 to take gold.

England missed out on a medal after being pipped to bronze by Jamaica earlier today.
