Gibbons wins Grand Prix gold

Great Britain's Gemma Gibbons scooped gold at the International Judo Federation Grand Prix in Mongolia at the weekend.

The 28-year-old, who has suffered a number of injuries since clinching Olympic silver at London 2012, sealed a place in the final after coming from behind to beat Japan's Akari Ogata in the semi-final.

Number one seed Sarah Myriam Mazouz stood in Gibbons's way in the 78kg final, but she was able to grab a winning ippon and take the top spot on the podium.

Last month, the Brit was beaten in the early rounds of the European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
