Great Britain's Gemma Gibbons wins gold at IJF Grand Prix in Mongolia

Great Britain's Gemma Gibbons grabs a gold medal in the 78kg final at the IJF Grand Prix in Mongolia.

Great Britain's Gemma Gibbons scooped gold at the International Judo Federation Grand Prix in Mongolia at the weekend.

The 28-year-old, who has suffered a number of injuries since clinching Olympic silver at London 2012, sealed a place in the final after coming from behind to beat Japan's Akari Ogata in the semi-final.

Number one seed Sarah Myriam Mazouz stood in Gibbons's way in the 78kg final, but she was able to grab a winning ippon and take the top spot on the podium.

Last month, the Brit was beaten in the early rounds of the European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
