Great Britain's Dan Powell will not contest for a judo gold medal after losing his opening -81kg bout.
The British hopeful was up against Matthias Krieger of Germany, who started off the better opponent at the ExCel Arena and managed to clinch a spot in the final with an ippon.
Powell's medal hopes are not over yet though, as the Brit will compete later in a repechage for a place in the bronze-medal matches.
The Paralympian's compatriot Ben Quilter faced the same fate yesterday but was able to win a bronze medal for Great Britain.
