Japan, France take gold in World Championships

Japan and France have scooped gold medals on the final day of the judo World Championships in the team competition in Russia.

The men's Japanese team bounced back from two down against hosts Russia to win the final three contests and take the crown in Chelyabinsk on Sunday.

Georgia and Germany failed to reach the final, but the two nations did earn a place on the podium by earning bronze medals.

Japan's victory gave them their fifth team gold, but their female counterparts could not grab their third title in a row after losing to France in the semi-finals.

France were able to clinch gold by winning the deciding contest, while Japan and Germany took bronze medals.
