GB gymnast Dan Purvis 'working harder' to boost Rio 2016 hopes

Purvis 'working harder' with one eye on Rio

Great Britain's Dan Purvis has claimed that he has extra "motivation" to work hard because the 2016 Rio Olympics is edging closer.

The three-time British all-around champion will try to claim another medal at the Championships in Liverpool this week.

Later this year, Purvis will compete at the European Championships with the hope of boosting his chances of making the squad at the World Championships.

"We have tried to think of new things to put in [my routines], but nothing too extreme," Purvis told The Scotsman. "A lot of it is just execution now.

"We are all working so hard because we all want to make the British team and get to the Worlds and to Rio next year and that's great motivation to work even harder in the gym."

Purvis won team bronze at the 2012 Olympics in London.
