Britain's Simm suffers women's vault disappointment

Great Britain artistic gymnast Kelly Simm has missed out on a podium finish in the women's vault at the inaugural European Games.

The 20-year-old, who also suffered disappointment in the all-around event earlier this week, finished sixth with a score of 7.166.

After recording 14.333 on her first vault, Simm slipped on the second to end any hopes of claiming a medal in Baku.

There was no such trouble for Giulia Steingruber of Switzerland, meanwhile, who added to her all-around silver by taking gold this afternoon at the National Gymnastics Arena.

Second place was awarded to Seda Tutkhalyan as the Russian Federation extended their impressive overall medals tally, while the Netherlands' Lisa Top secured bronze.

Simm's Great Britain teammate Brinn Bevan had better luck, winning bronze in the men's pommel horse earlier in the day.
