Russia win gold in rhythmic gymnastics

Russia have won their fourth consecutive Olympic gold in the rhythmic gymnastics group all-around event.

The European nation scored 28.700 in their five balls routine before 28.300 with the ribbons and hoops earned them a total of 57.000, as they retained their title from four years ago in Beijing.

Russia have now won gold in every Olympic games in both the individual and group rhythmic events since the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

Belarus won the silver medal on Sunday with a total of 55.500, while Italy picked up the bronze medal with 55.450.
