Gymnast Louis Smith to compete for Commonwealth Games spot in Glasgow

Smith to compete for Glasgow place

British gymnast Louis Smith has announced that he has returned to full-time training in a bid to grab a place at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old admitted that he was considering his future after winning an individual silver Olympic medal on the pommel horse at London 2012.

However, the three-time Olympic medallist has decided that he wants to represent England in Glasgow following a break from the sport last year.

"I am an athlete and as has always been the case, I will be there in the pursuit of success," BBC Sport quotes Smith as saying.

"I'm not done with gymnastics yet. I have unfinished business. Should I qualify, the opportunity to compete on home turf again is one that I will relish."

During his time off, Smith won BBC reality television show 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
