Great British men fail to reach Olympic grade

The Great British men's gymnastics team have failed in their first attempt to qualify for the Olympic Games in London next year.

The team failed to finish in the top eight at the World Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo earlier today.

"This was a very disappointing day," said British performance director Tim Jones.

"We did not expect to make so many mistakes on high bar, which ended up so seriously undermining our challenge.

"However, our gymnasts were not outclassed. They are a talented group who will rise to the challenge of qualifying for the Olympic Games at the second qualification opportunity in January."

Great Britain's women's team qualified for the Games with their performance in Japan on Saturday.
