British Gymnastics appoint Roy Headey as head of performance sport

British Gymnastics have announced that Roy Headey has been appointed as the new head of performance sport.

Headey, who is currently the head of sports science at the Rugby Football Union, will take on the post following experience in sport management.

British Gymnastics chief executive Jane Allen said: "Roy has been head of sports science at the RFU for over ten years and the extensive knowledge he has gained in this role and others held within the sector will be put to good use in leading our high performance programme. The appointment of Roy is a key step forward as we prepare for Rio 2016 and beyond."

Headey will begin his role from February 1 next year.
